The name Marshall Bruce Mathers III sounds as regal as it comes, but his stage name of Eminem or The Slim Shady and his talent as a multi-faceted rapper has made this Detroit native a very rich man. Eminem's purported net worth is $180,152,500.
Eminem has developed from just an extraordinary rapper with great rhyme into an actor, songwriter, record producer and now label owner. His debut onto the music scene in 1999 had the brother's head swiveling as this white boy could lay down the sizzling poetry with the beat. Besides racking up the dough, The Slim Shady has sold more than 86.5 million albums worldwide during his years in the business.
Along the way, Eminem has collected some hardware. To date, Eminem has 13 of those Golden gramophones known as the Grammys. His first three albums met both with critical acclaim and huge sales and they were all rewarded with Grammys for the Best LP of that year. In 2002, Mathers should have joined the MTV Board of Directors because he won so many awards from them that his name was plastered over most of the awards they game away that year, including, Best Moive, Best Movie Male Performance, Best Male Breakthrough Performance and a host of Teen Choice Awards.
Now Eminem has had his legal troubles. His mother sued him for slander for his use of her in some of his lyrics. He faced criminal charges for carrying a weapon in 2003. His wife sued him for defamation for his use of her suicide attempt in some of his lyrics. In 2005, his aunt and uncle sued him for breaking a promise of buying them a house and providing its upkeep. He also ending up settling a lawsuit concerning a copyright issue with one of his songs.
Even though Eminem has encountered numerous feud with other musicians and gone through the requisite drug intoxication period, he has now established his own label, called Shady Records and he looks poised to collaborate with new and money making talent.
