You won't find this guy coddling a cat. Earl Simmons – or better known as DMX – loves his dogs and has always lets everyone know about it. Matter of factly, he has incorporated the growling, barking style into his rap songs as well as the ink he that adorns his body. The love of what he considers the most loyal if not best of a man's possible friends has earned him a net worth now of $2,810,000 after preaching that lifelong gospel.
Since 1998, DMX has been rocking his audiences with that distinct fluid rap style. His associations with the early pioneers of rap, Ja Rule, Jay-Z, L.L. Cool J, Busta Rhymes and others made him a well-respected icon in the genre as it faced critical headwinds. The Baltimore, Maryland native extended past those musical roots as he added acting to his credentials.
Theater audiences have witnessed his intensity on the screen along side Jet Li, Vin Diesel, Nicolas Cage and Paul Walker. He has appeared in one of the Fast and Furious franchise movies and has appeared opposite of Jet Li in Cradle 2 to the Grave.
Okay. None of his acting forays have risen to the level of Oscar consideration, but there has been some thought about a Razzi or two. Give the guy a break. He's a rapper.
In the interest of full disclosure, DMX has turned over a new leaf. There was a time in his life – most of it so far – where Mr. Simmons has been connected with and accused of horrendous crimes. Moving the sodomy, rape and shooting incidents aside, he has admitted to multiple drug, weapon possessions and driving infractions. He now has seen the light and has returned to his roots as a Christian. DMX promises to dedicate more of his life back to a ministry in order to spread the word that he may have down some bad things, but he is not a bad man.
