Zsa Zsa Gabor spent most of her life relying on her looks, her wit and her ability to climb socially. The Hungarian beauty queen managed to light up the social calendar during the 1950s as a dazzling blond, sophisticated with a European flair that drove men crazy. She married nine of them.
One of the best examples of Gabor's wit comes at the expense of her marital woes. She would describe herself as a great housekeeper. She would say that after each failed marriage, she would keep the house. Before she came to the states she married Burhan Biege from 1937-41. She hit it big with her second marriage to Conrad Hilton. The pair were married from 1942 to 1947 and Gabor had her only child during that relationship. She went on to marry George Sanders from 1949 to 1954. Next up was Herbert Hunter who lasted from 1962-66. The marriage to Hunter was followed by a wild romance and one year marriage to Joshua S. Cosden, Jr. Jack Ryan and Mike O'Hare and then Felipe de Alba all went through brief marriages with Gabor. In 1986, Gabor finally married a man she would stay with more than four of five year. She married Fredric Von Anhalt.
While Zsa Zsa racked up more than 40 movies to her credit and more than 50 individual television appearances during her life, most of the in front of camera work transpired before the beginning of the 70s. She did make a cameo appearance in the Airplane spoof franchise making light of an arrest she suffered in 1991 where she slapped a policeman after getting into a car accident.
Nowadays, Gabor has been suffering from a series of physical ailments that hampered her mobility. She has lost a leg and had a series of strokes after a car accident in 2002. Her daughter and husband have been at legal odds and in the court rooms fighting over her care.
