Retired American Basketball player Charles Wade Barkley was born on February 20, 1963 and is currently pursuing a career as an analyst in the television show Inside the NBA. Barkley was famous for his dominating gameplay and was selected in the All-NBA First Team Five Times. Even though he has retired from his basketball career, Charles Wade Barkley is still quite successful.
Barkley is currently working for Turner Network Television, better known as TNT. The network is mainly known for covering NBA games, an industry that Barkley is very familiar with. Next to his television career as an analyst, Barkley has also written several books and has shown some interest in the field of politics.
The most remembered incident of his career occurred in March 1991. Barkley attempted to spit on a fan who had been insulting him with racial comments. The spitting did not hit the intended target and hit a young girl nearby instead. The incident landed him a $10,000 fine and suspension without pay. Even though the story went national, Barkley apologized and developed a friendship with the young girl and her family.
His NBA career did not go unnoticed and Barkley will leave a legacy as one of the most controversial, outspoken and most dominating players in the NBA. Barkley also had a large impact on basketball itself, outside all his titles, scoring and play style. Charles Barkley had a confrontational way of playing and this often led to fouls and even fines on the court. Barkley is also known for his fights, more specifically when he was arrested for breaking a manís nose during a fight after one of his games. He also threw a man through a plate-glass window after he was struck with a glass of ice.
Even though Barkley has had quite some controversy, fans seem to love him due to his honesty and no-nonsense approach.
