American actor and musician John Phillip Stamos is mainly known for playing Jesse Katsopolis in the hit series Full House. The show ended in 1995, but Stamos continued to appear in various series, films and TV-shows. Stamos is also the national spokesperson for Project Cuddle, a non-profit organization preventing baby abandonment.
Stamos was born in California and is the son of Loretta and Bill Stamos. His good looks can definitely be explained by his heritage, his mother was a swimsuit model and his father a restaurateur of Greek descent.
Even though Stamos is mainly known for his role in Full House, he started his career playing Blackie Parrish in the soap General Hospital. John Stamos got recognized for his acting talent pretty quickly, since he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1984. Stamos continued to rule the Daytime scene with roles in Dreams, You Again and Full House.
After the end of Full House, Stamos has done countless productions, television series and even commercials, although some of the series he featured in were not that successful. Thieves and Jake in Progress only ran for several episodes until they got cancelled. Stamos also guest starred in one of the most successful series of all-time, Friends, and in The Andy Milonakis Show. It would seem like Stamos only guest starred since he left Full House, however, it does look like he has several projects waiting.
John Stamos was married once to Victoria Secret model Rebecca Romijn. The couple got married in 1998, but divorced in 2004 after only six years of marriage.
Even though Stamos was not as successful in his personal life, he did receive several awards for his acting career. John Stamos won Most Exciting New Actor at the Soapy Awards, Best Young Actor at the Young Artist Awards and Favorite Elvis Impersonation at the TV Land Awards.
