Milla Jovovich makes a good living as an American actress, but also makes money as a musician, model and fashion designer.
Jovovich is originally from the Soviet Union, where she was born on December 17, 1975. Milla and her parents immigrated to the United States when she was five. They were forced to leave their homeland due to political reasons. The immigration did not bring family bliss, her parents got divorced seven months after they arrived in the United States.
Milla always knew she was destined from greatness, but had a lot of problems finding jobs due to the language barrier. She eventually found a job as a cleaner and both parents worked for director Brian De Palma. In 1994, her father was convicted for medical insurance fraud and got 20 years in prison.
When she was 10, she attended the Professional Actors School in California. She got her first role at the age of thirteen, playing Lily McLeod in “The Night Train to Kathmandu”. That same year she also featured in the romantic thriller “Two Moon Junction.” Next to movie appearances, she also featured in various TV-shows, including “Paradise”, “Married…with Children” and “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”.
Even though she had a few minor roles in the 80s, her career did not really take off until the 90s, when she started acting again. Jovovich starred in “The Fifth Element”, also starring Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman. This movie would start her career as an actress and model.
Jovovich was married two times and is currently living in Los Angeles with her current husband, writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson. The coupled married in 2009 and met on the set of “Resident Evil”, which Anderson directed. The couple had their first child, Ever Gabo in 2007. Jovovich is now expecting the arrival of her second child.
