Jump To Ray Rice's Stats
Ray Rice, also known as Raymell Mourice Rice, makes a living as a professional American football player. Although he is a very talented running back, he is currently a free agent because nobody wants to be associated with him at the moment. The reason why no team wants to hire Rice has everything to do with the fact that Rice was sentenced for aggravated assault on March 27, 2014.
Rice and his wife Janay Palmer, were arrested and charged after a physical altercation at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City. Video footage showed how rice was dragging Palmer’s body out of an elevator, only a few minutes after he knocked her out.
Ray was sentenced on March 27, 2014 to a possible jail sentence of three to five years and a fine of $15,000. Remarkably, only one day after the sentencing, Palmer and Rice got married on March 28, 2014.
The assault charges had some serious consequences for Rice’s career though, not only was he suspended for the first two games of the 2014 NFL season, but his contract with The Baltimore Ravens also got suspended. Rice also got suspended from the NFL, but was later reinstated on November 28, 2014.
His personal life has seriously endangered his career, but Rice is now taking it one step further. Instead of taking his punishment, Rice is now filing against the NFL for wrongful termination, even though there is footage of Rice punching Palmer and dragging her body out of the elevator.
The NFL fired Rice on good grounds, so the chance that Rice is going to get anything out of this lawsuit, besides an even more damaged career, is highly unlikely. Still, Rice is sure that he will win and is demanding $3.5 million dollars from the NFL. Recently it came to light that Rice may already got most of his claim and that the NFL and Rice came to a settlement.
